Ormskirk Advertiser 10th October 1918 ORMSKIRK'S STEWARD'S LUCKY ESCAPE Amongst the few survivors of the crew of the Burutu sunk in collision last week Mr J.W. Banks of Southport-road, Ormskirk, who escaped by jumping into the sea after the vessel was struck armed with a life jacket. He swam about for a considerable time before being picked up by one of the ship's boats. He lost all his belongings.
