Mr George Milligan, of the Dockers, reports that Private Robert McCormick, of the White Star Porters, has been praised by the general of his brigade for conspicuous gallantry in the face of the enemy during the attack on the Hindenburg Line. He crawled from shell-hole to shell-hole under heavy machine-gun fire, every movement being observed by enemy snipers who repeatedly fired on him. He tended and bandaged wounded regardless of danger and only dropped into shell-hole cover when ordered by his platoon commander. The general commanding said, "A very fine example of devotion to duty."
"We who know and worked with 'Bob' at the White Star," concludes Mr Milligan, "Say, 'Well done,'Bob!'"
