Miss Madge Melladew, A.S.C., who, on Easter Monday was married at St Michael's Church, Chester-square, London to Major G. Gerard Shiel, Northumberland Fusiliers, is a well-known Liverpool lady and a strenuous war worker. She was the first lady motor driver attached to the A.S.C. and is now its head lady driver in London. Previously she acted in a similar capacity for the Y.M.C.A.
Her wedding was made the occasion of a presentation on behalf of her colleagues of an illuminated address and a handsome silver travelling clock. The bride, who wore her travelling dress, was attended by Miss Jesson, in the uniform of the A.S.C. and escorted to the alter by MAjor Barff D.S.O., Cheshire Regiment and Mrs E Melladew of "Lynewood", Sefton Park, Liverpool, being present to give her daughter away. The vicar of the parish, the Rev. J. Gough McCormick, formerly of St Paul's, Prince's Park, to which the bride was attached in pre-war days, officiated.
The bridegroom is home on a very short leave from the front, where he is now due to return.
