Private Arthur Ballinger, The King's Liverpool Regiment

The 1901 census shows Arthur Ballinger, aged 18 was employed as a hatters assistant and lived with his parents Percival and Mary Ballinger in Jessel Rd, Walsall, Staffordshire.
On 25th September 1910 Arthur Ballinger (aged 27) married Jessie Beatrice Catesby at St Philip's Church, Liverpool. Arthur's occupation was outfitter and he lived at 41 Victoria Rd.
The 1911 census shows Arthur and Jessie spent the night of the census at 13 Bigham Rd, Liverpool, head of the household was Jessie's brother William. They had no children.
Arthur's service records have not survived but other records show that he served as a Private with the 1st Battalion, The King's Liverpool Regiment with regimental number 42787. He was eligible for the Victory Medal and the British War Medal which indicates that he first joined a theatre of war after 31st Dec 1916. A notation shows that his medals were returned to the Ministry of Defence. His widow Jessie lived on Devonshire Rd, Tuebrook.
Private Arthur Ballinger was killed in action on 13th March 1917, he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
Arthur's family also commemorated him with an inscription on the family headstone in Allerton Cemetery, Liverpool.
