Seats for Conductors
Women conductors on omnibuses and tramcars have already earned golden opinions from the travelling public, but the question whether the hours are not too long and the work too arduous for the average girl, even though robust, has somewhat exercised the minds of those who do not altogether shut their eyes to the interests of the coming generation. It is well to learn, therefore (says the "Financial Times"), that the London General Omnibus Company, ever keenly alive to the interests both of its servants and of the public, is providing folding seats for conductors, so that the ladies who take our fares so pleasantly make also take, if not their ease, at least an occasional rest when busines slacks off for a brief moment or two.
